Asbestos is a set of 6 naturally occurring thin fibrous crystals that have been mined for more than 4,000 years. Manufacturers began using asbestos in a variety of products and materials around the end of the 19th Century due to it's superior properties in sound absorption, tensile strength, fire and heat resistance and affordability. Prolonged inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause serious and fatal illnesses including Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, and Asbestosis.

Proper identification, safe handling and disposal techniques will aid in the protection of the worker and those around them.
