This course is applicable to any worker who is operating an Elevated Work Platform. This can include, but is not limited to plumbers, electricians, steel workers, warehouse workers, construction workers and inspectors.

Participants must have a valid ESC Fall Protection certificate in order to complete this training.

Upon successful completion of the program each student will be issued an ESC certificate that is valid for a period of 3 years.

AIP Safety is offering/instructing ESC Mobile Elevated Work Platform course on behalf of Energy Safety Canada Ltd and the training credential is under Energy Safety Canada.

The objective is to bring together the regional stakeholders to identify, develop and implement strategies and tools for purpose of creating “an incident free workforce”.

Participants required to utilize fall protection equipment must be trained and competent in its proper use, care and maintenance.

An aerial work platform (AWP), also known as an aerial device, elevating work platform (EWP), or mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) is a mechanical device used to provide temporary access for people or equipment to inaccessible areas, usually at height. There are distinct types of mechanized access platforms and the individual types may also be known as a "cherry picker".

They are generally used for temporary, flexible access purposes such as maintenance and construction work or by firefighters for emergency access, which distinguishes them from permanent access equipment such as elevators. They are designed to lift limited weights — usually less than a ton, although some have a higher safe working load (SWL)[1] — distinguishing them from most types of cranes. They are usually capable of being set up and operated by a single person.

Due to the wide range of applications for this equipment, aerial lifts have become one of the most utilized pieces of equipment in industry. Hazards can include falls, contact with live wires, tipping and contact with structure resulting in worker injury.

Workers are required to have trained in the use of Elevated work platforms as legislated by the OH&S Code of Alberta and the ESC Elevated Work Platform standard.

This 8 hour ESC Elevated Work Platform course will allow you to understand the hazards, operation, maintenance and legislation associated with this type of equipment.
