Course Description
Spill containment is where spills of chemicals, oils, sewage etc. are contained within a barrier or drainage system rather than being absorbed into the environment. The National Response Center (NRC) reports over 10,000 annual spills in the US. Spill containment can be utilized for any size or type of spill.
Spill response and containment is legislated in the province of Alberta and is the responsibility of the company when a spill occurs on their property or while in transport with their equipment.
In order to limit the effect on the environment and the impact of mitigation and recovery, employers and employees need to be trained to respond and deal with product releases on their property.
