As a Calgary-run company, AIP Safety supports and encourages the wellbeing of all Albertans, and we want to ensure that you’re safe this holiday season in the workplace as well as at home.

Staying Safe This Holiday Season

The holidays are a special time of year: everyone is happy, gratitude is plentiful, and joy seems to fill the air. But despite the myriad of positive associations, it’s still prudent to be cautious during this festive season, as accidents can happen at any time of year.

With this in mind, it’s certainly a well-advised decision to ensure you’re up to snuff on the latest precautions in regards to fire extinguisher safety -- for the wellbeing of your coworkers, colleagues, and family.

And that’s why we invite you to stay safe during the holidays by looking into AIP Safety’s…

Fire Extinguisher Course

This course was created to exceed the standards set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The completion of this course will provide you with the knowledge and safety measures that must be taken to ensure a safe holiday season in both the workplace and at home.

The proper use of a fire extinguisher can not only prevent damage to company (or home) property, but could also save lives! Fire fighting training for the use of fire extinguishers is designed for small-scale fires that are still controllable (typically fires that are still confined to a small section of a room or space).

This class is located in Calgary and is split into two portions. The first of which is in a class with demonstrations to ensure you understand fire and fire safety tactics. And the second portion is done outside where you’ll be battling real fires in real time.

The main ideas the course aims to impart you with are:

  • How to identify the different types of fire
  • The basics of fire chemistry (the components of fire, its characteristics, and phases)
  • The categories of fire
  • What type of fire extinguisher is appropriate for each circumstance
  • The correct tactics for fighting fires
  • How to use a fire extinguisher correctly
  • How to properly inspect a fire extinguisher and more

Additionally, there are also online courses in the event you are unable to attend the live in-person course.

Conclusion

If you’re like most people, the last thing on your mind during the holidays is a potential safety hazard. But by being aware as well as prepared, you can rest easy in the knowledge that if anything were to transpire, you would have the ability to handle the situation.
